Blood clot scare

It took me quite by surprise. The intensity of the pain. At first, I couldn't put my finger on it. It was familiar, it was new at the same time. It started out gradual and was dull. It began it spread from my wrist, up to my elbow and the nagging pain turned into an unbearable pain. I was up all night, took Morphine and that soothed it for barely 2 hours.
I could not rest my arm in any position. It was swollen and tender and hot. Morning could not come soon enough.

As I took apart the pain piece by piece, going back to the original start the day before. I felt it first while prepping vegetables for a stir fry. Chopping the celery, I noticed a tenderness in my wrist. I already have weak wrists, so I was not alarmed.
By end of the afternoon, my movement was limited, my fingers could not bend very much. That evening, while giving my son his bath, panic rose within my brain. I realized I was dealing with a clot.
The signs and symptoms were exactly the same as the clot I got in my calf. Extreme pain, you can't go wrong.
Swelling, hardening of the muscle and heat radiating from that area. Redness in my wrist.
I immediately took 4 baby aspirin. The next day, the swelling had gone done, I took 2 baby aspirin and today the wrist is almost back to normal.

My past health history is complicated, so I tend to self medicate myself in situations similar to these. I can not confirm if this is a clot but I'm treating it as if it were. I am observing it closely and any changes to it I will go to tthe Emergency Room.

I do not recommend anyone does this, not knowing if you have a blood clot is very dangerous, and life threatening. I have had a pulmonary embolism in the past and I know exactly how dangerous of a condition it it. It required immediate medical attention.

Having Lupus for over twenty years now has made me aware of alot of complications that come with the territory, either it be related to side effects from the medications or illness related complications.
I was tested for deep vein thrombosis (DVT) risk factors and tested positive for Factor V Leiden. At that time, I was put on Coumadin and took it religiously for about 5 years.
I made the decision to stop treatment, I stopped all visits and follow ups to the Thrombosis clinic.
When I became pregnant, I was recommended to go back on Warfarin for the duration of the pregnancy.
My husband, who has a fear of needles, had to inject Heparin into my belly every night.
After the birth, I stopped all treatment again.

It was very much a part of my life, dealing with the stress of blood clots. I invested alot of money into buying compression stockings, fashionable ones are quite expensive, anywhere from 45 to 120$ a pair.

With my latest blood clot scare, I realize that our lives are such a fragile state and our time on this earth is not certain in any way. I am grateful today to be feeling better, to have my arm and wrist return to their normal shape and the pain be manageable. I will carry on with the Baby Aspirins for now and re-assess in a week.
