Social media detoxification

I am happy to report back that it is much easier than anticipated. My first day felt strict and rigid. When I logged on at work, I had to remind myself to not touch any social media in my favorites, even though it came naturally. My first thought was that the day was going to be long, very long.

Many of my friends were surprised and intrigued that I decided to do this 30 day social media detox. They, by far, did not consider me a social media junkie. For that matter, I knew I was not but still felt like my time on social media held too much control over my life activities.
I used to clock in at least 2 hours per day on social media.

I am now on day 21 of my social media detoxification. What I can say for sure is that I am more active.
Active on every level.
I actively plan ahead. Instead of clicking maybe or interested to an event, I plan to go. I make it possible.
I actively plan meals ahead of time! And make them!
I actively participate in my son's homework and school projects.
I actively participate in my new meditation routine instead of scrolling over and over again my Instagram feed.

Little things that have come out of my experiment so far...:
- A feeling of peace of mind. What I don`t know, I won't miss. What I won't miss, I won't worry over.
- Better sleep
-More time, loads more!!!
- Motivation, it came in little increments but now I am managing it wisely.
-A feeling of less urgency. This is hard to explain but it basically is not having a heaviness on my chest by the pressures of all the things happening and stuff we could be doing. As a mother, a friend and as a family too!

I sometimes feel like my social media defined my life experiences and that it had to be out there.
I now see how irrelevant it is to share and post what I do, where I go, etc.
I hope I am able to keep this level head once I log back in in 10 days.

I encourage you to look at your social media habits. I encourage you to rank your level of active participation in your life activities and relate it to time spent on social media.
Make wise choice.
